One of the most prominent
literary figures in India, Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza was an Indian poet, writer and
lyricist who has contributed to the lyrics of the most iconic songs in
Bollywood films. Raza, in his illustrious career has won several awards
including the three Filmfare Best Dialogue Award for Best Dialogue Award. Born
in a typical Muslim family in Uttar Pradesh, Raza after completing his schooling
went to Aligarh Muslim University to pursue higher studies and later completed
a doctorate in Hindustani Literature.
He is mainly, widely
remembered for writing the script and dialogues for Mahabharat, the TV serial,
which was based on the epic Hindu mythological book Mahabharata.
Having started his career as
a script and dialogues writer, apart from writing for films, some of his most

Amongst his writings, Dr. Raza has written about 10 novels
and has written several collections of poetries. One of the most vivid things
about his writings is the depiction of the agony and turmoil post the partition
of Indian in 1947 and the Hindu-Muslim relationship among the various social
groups during that period.
